Libertyville, IL, July 5, 2024 – The St. Sava Serbian Orthodox School of Theology is pleased to announce significant progress in its journey towards achieving full accreditation. After more than a year of meticulous preparation, thorough submission of required documents, and an exhaustive review by the accrediting agency, the Middle States Commission on Higher Education (MSCHE), the institution has successfully advanced to the second phase of the four-phase accreditation process.
The MSCHE's positive vote follows an in-depth evaluation that included comprehensive recommendations and an on-site visit. This milestone marks a significant achievement and brings the St. Sava Serbian Orthodox School of Theology one step closer to full accreditation, with the next phase anticipated to take between 12 and 15 months.
“We extend our heartfelt gratitude to our dedicated administration, faculty, staff, students, and Board for their unwavering commitment and hard work during this rigorous process,” said Very Rev. Dr. Aleksandar Novakovic, Dean of St. Sava Serbian Orthodox School of Theology. “We also recognize the diligent leadership of Rev. Hierodeacon Methodios, Commissioner of the Holy Synod of Bishops of the SOC for the Accreditation Process, and express our sincere thanks to His Eminence, Metropolitan Longin, the current Board president, for his instrumental role in this achievement, and to His Eminence, Metropolitan Mitrofan, the past dean, who initiated this process.”
In addition to acknowledging the internal support, we also express our deep appreciation to the Holy Synod of the Serbian Orthodox Church and His Holiness Kyr PORFIRIJE, the Patriarch of the Serbian Orthodox Church, for their continuous support and blessings throughout this journey.
The St. Sava Serbian Orthodox School of Theology remains committed to upholding the highest standards of theological education and looks forward to continuing its work towards full accreditation.
About St. Sava Serbian Orthodox School of Theology:
Our mission is to serve the Serbian Orthodox Church by providing the highest level of education to our students.
